| Tulip Time |
| |
In 1929 Joe Burke, my
grandfather and Tin Pan Alley tunesmith, penned the music to "Tip
Toe through the Tulips." He never moved his family out of his
native Philadelphia, PA, although he worked for Warner Bros. in
California and later New York City. For the entire family tulips
have become a flower of family pride, connecting us together no
matter where the tulips are growing.
The sculptural centerpiece-style work Tulip Time consists of eight
flame-worked tulips permanently adhered to plate glass mounted in
a copper base. Underneath the plate glass is a satellite view of
the Philadelphia area. 9 ½" x 12" by 7". |
